Who's going to see Tyler Perry's adaption of Ntozake Shange's For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf on Nov 5th ?

I can't wait!! I actually read the book some years ago and found it to be such a powerful piece of poetry and prose, I was ecstatic when I heard that it would be adapted into a film.
I'm a huge Tyler Perry fan, but I admit I was a teensy- tad bit skeptical when I found this film would be a Tyler Perry Production, because movie makers period and their creative license don't always get it right with their book-to-film attempts, and you don't want people to go messing up a classic.
Mr.Perry is no stranger to telling stories about women "going through some thangs", but still I thought this is still such a departure from his typical fare (which I like) and the book is not even your typical book with a plot. The book is a series of dramatic poems about dealing with all aspects of life as a woman of color — racial identity, rape, abortion, sexuality and domestic violence.

My skepticism turned to curiosity as to how the movie would be scripted and which actress would represent which color. In the book and stage play the women were identified by the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple plus the color brown and the cast of women for this film is incredible: Anika Noni Rose, Kimberly Elise, Kerri Washington, Loretta Devine, Whoopi Goldberg, Thandi Newton, Janet Jackson and Phylicia Rashad. The trailer and the scenes that I've viewed as the actresses have been making appearances to promote the film have been really powerful , so I hope that's an indication of the film in it's entirety.
Tyler Perry stated on a View appearance that he stayed true to Shange's work, which doesn't' look as if that included the title since it's been abridged to " For Colored Girls.." What I do hope they capture in the film is one of my fave parts of the book where the young girl learns about Toussaint L'Ouverture. Those particular passages always stood out so powerful to me, so I hope it's not glossed over.

Hey Reggie..
I loved it!! I think Tyler did an excellent job!!! They did leave out my favortie poem but my 2nd fave poem was recited by Phyilicia Rashad and she did it justice, but they spilt it between her and Thandi Newton. Also Janet Jackson is too weak of an actress to have been in the movie, her range is not powerful, bad casting choice but other than that I loved it!! I loved all those women in those roles, except Janet.
